UNIVERSITY PARIS 1 PANTHÉON SORBONNEThe University of Paris was created at the very beginning of the 13th century, and has inherited its name from the College created by the theologian Robert de Sorbon in 1252. The university is principally located in the heart of the Latin Quarter, and occupies part of the Sorbonne and other prestigious French university buildings. Paris 1 possesses one of the largest and most complete university libraries in France and it is now part of the PRES (Pôle de recherche et d'enseignement supérieur) HéSAM, which includes private and public higher education and research institutions working together at national and international level. Alumni testimonal by MA Caroline Gomes Nogueira, Brazil/Portugal I am of Brazilian and Portuguese origin and I hold a bachelor's degree in Economics from Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil). After some work experience as a research assistant, I decided to pursue my master's studies at the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in the Research Master Programme "Globalization". During my training at Paris 1 I also participated in the training program of the European Commission, in Brussels, working at the European agency for development cooperation (EuropeAid). After my graduation from Paris 1, I joined the OECD as a consultant collaborating on studies and reports in the area of trade, energy policy and the environment. My experience at Paris 1, and more specifically in the "Économie de la Mondialisation" Master Programme, really enabled me to acquire a strong background in research training and to build bridges between economic theory, policy approaches and quantitative techniques.
Alumni testimonal by Nelly El Mallakh, Egypt I entered in the Master Globalization in 2012 through the partnership existing between Paris 1 and the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University. The program offers a variety of courses in Development and International Economics, that were very interesting and relevant to globalization issues. It has substantially contributed to the reinforcement of my analytical and empirical capabilities, through specialized courses in Econometrics as well as the attendance of seminars that gets you well involved with the recent and relevant research domains in Development. I enjoyed particularly the brainstorming sessions and occasional meetings to elaborate my Master Dissertation. It was the ideal environment to develop research questions and address the methodological problems. This was the key impulse for me to engage in the PhD program at Paris 1.
