Ruhr-University Bochum/Institute of Development Research and Development Policy

UNIVERSITY OF BOCHUM (Coordinator) (Germany)
Located in the midst of the dynamic, hospitable metropolitan area of the Ruhr, in the heart of Europe, the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) with its 20 faculties, RUB's disciplinary institutional units, is home to 5,000 employees and over 40,000 students from 130 countries. All the great scientific disciplines are united on one compact campus.
The RUB is on its way to becoming one of the leading European universities of the 21st Century. Almost all courses are offered as Bachelor and Master degree programmes. Our excellence programmes have made themselves an international name: Our Research School is an international college for structured doctoral research in the life sciences, natural sciences, engineering, the humanities and social sciences. Interfaculty and interdisciplinary Research Departments, which are mutually, nationally and internationally networked, sharpen the profile of the RUB. Added to this is an unsurpassed programme for the promotion of Early Career Researchers, and an excellent infrastructure.
What makes it all come alive is the people who meet on campus with their thirst for knowledge, their curiosity, and their commitment. They help shape the RUB and their open-mindedness makes the RUB an attractive place for people from around the world.

The IEE has a long standing experience with offering Master and PhD training for candidates from all over the world.
It is offering the international English-language PhD programme in International Development Studies (PhD IDS). Since winter 2000, the IEE offers an international English-language programme: The Master of Arts in Development Management. STUDY PROGRAMMES
MA Programmes
Master in Development Management

Since winter 2000, the Institute of Development Research and Development Policy is offering an international English-language Master Programme in Development Management. The duration of each programme cycle is three semesters (18 months). The aim of the 18-month MA in Development Management is the training of professionals to meet the increasing need for experts in programme and project management that has emerged in international development cooperation.
The course provides the student the necessary tools to deal with the practical problems of managing development programmes and projects: an introduction to theory for embedding them in a wider context, an interdisciplinary approach to methodology based on case studies for concrete analysis and the application of theoretical and methodological knowledge.

Alumni testimonial by M.A. Catherine Promise Biira, Uganda CathrinBiira-Bochum
"The richest experience I had was the realization that there is so much potential in people that even they themselves may not be aware of. Participating in the program unlocked so much potential in me. It gave me the drive and confidence to come this far and beyond"
